'The Caravan Drop In' is a service provided by the CCPE operating out of a caravan which has been provided by St. James's Church, Piccadilly, London. The caravan has been a feature of St. James's courtyard since 1982.

Counselling is offered by volunteers undergoing professional accredited training – most are training with the CCPE.

the service

The drop-in offers a core service of listening and emotional support, which can, by arrangement, evolve into counselling.

The service is available daily on a drop-in basis. Volunteers work at the same time each week. If they are already with someone, they will tell you when they will be free or when the next volunteer's slot begins.

For some people, just a little human warmth and a chat can hit the spot. Others may wish to talk more deeply about what is troubling them. The session will be twenty to fifty minutes long at the discretion of the volunteer.

Clients are free to continue using the drop-in, seeing whoever is on duty at the time. Or they may choose to see a particular volunteer again. A client who has been seeing a volunteer regularly can apply for a counselling relationship with that volunteer, entailing agreements as to the focus and commitment to the sessions.

The volunteers adhere to the BAC Code of Ethics and Practice in all aspects of the work, including confidentiality.
